Win a Duck Tour and a Visit to the Old State House

To promote an appreciation for our state's history, The Bostonian Society and Boston Duck Tours sponsor a yearly essay contest for greater Boston area school children in grades 5-8. This year's essay topic is 'A Military Hero from Massachusetts.' This essay should be about a man or woman who served with distinction in the armed forces in any conflict. Students in grades 5-6 are asked to submit an essay of 300-500 words, Students in grades 7-8 are asked to submit an essay of 500-700 words. For more information, contact James Healy at 617-438-4915.

The Bostonian Society is Boston’s Historical Society, serving a city whose rich historical legacy continues to inspire its citizens. Formed in 1881 to save the Old State House from being moved to Chicago, today the Bostonian Society operates the Old State House as a museum of Boston history, maintains a public research library, and offers a variety of educational programs for adults and children. Boston Duck Tours is proud to jointly sponsor this annual contest with the Bostonian Society.
